112. Seed of Chucky

112. (13 May) Seed of Chucky (2004, Don Mancini) 46

Jennifer Tilly deserves an award for her willingness and determination to mock herself and career. Unfortunately, the child of Tiffany and Chucky is unbearably grating. A sequel where the dolls tried to take over Jennifer Tilly's body on their own would've been so much better. In the same sense that Scream 3 gets too meta for its own good, the same is true of this Child's Play installment.

110. Bride of Chucky

Packed with references to make horror aficionados grin, Bride of Chucky hints at the sort of fun this franchise should've been having all along. Jennifer Tilly is an utter delight, energizing the film even when she's in doll form. Nick Stabile and Katherine Heigl are almost serviceable in keeping the plot going, but they're not really tongue-in-cheek enough to keep in touch with the film's actual tone.
