303. (07 Dec) The Imposter (2012, Bart Layton) 60

The Imposter lets this truly remarkable story play out chronologically as both the titular phony and those he duped explain their mindsets. I'm rarely a fan of reenactments in documentaries, but it works wonderfully accompanying candid, lucid interviews that lets this play out like a narrative that's stranger than fiction. As the twists get all the more outrageous, The Imposter gets all the more breathtaking, but insinuations that it will solve the Barclay case are irresponsible and even tacky. It's exploitative of a family that lives with substantial grief.
