302. (07 Dec) Bully (2012, Lee Hirsch) 52

Being a school-age kid sucks. It's impressive that the cameras here were invisible enough to capture kids at their most brutal, but it's unclear just what Bully hopes to accomplish. Interviewees from all walks of life talk about the difficulties of name calling and physical abuse by their peers; the stories here are tragic. Yet Bully offers no feasible means of ending bullying. While it's easy to get riled up by this kind of material, ineffective administrators and oblivious parents are made too peripheral. Instead, much of the blame is put on scared, quiet kids, which is a red herring if ever there was one.
