Essentially so much funnier than almost all other comedies, it's surprising when so much as ten seconds go by without Bringing Up Baby landing a laugh. Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant are at their comedic best. They're keenly aware of the inherent hilarity in the script and accomplish quite a feat in creating dimensional characters in a screwball this wacky. Howard Hawks likely couldn't have had more fun making this. He sets up each elaborate gag and twist as if it's a labor of love.
