As if you didn't think ornithology was painfully uncool before. Interviews here prove birders are, unsurprisingly, self-conscious about their perceived nerdiness. And while they certainly have a passion for birds, it doesn't especially translate in Kimball's film. Capturing an intangible feeling like their joy in seeing a rare bird does not happen here in real time. Interviewees talk nonstop, but they say little that's moving or insightful.
