When one of the scares involves a Slinky coming down the stairs all by itself, it's clear that When the Lights Went Out just isn't going to be scary. It's laughable how many pathetic attempts this makes to be spooky without having any actual hint of atmosphere. Terrible scripting adds insult to injury. The best thing here is handsome, genial leading man Steven Waddington.
