This covers the major events of Truman's life, focusing primarily on his time in office, doing a capable job scratching the surface of a complicated presidency. Gary Sinise's physicality and accent make his an incredibly convincing portrayal. Diana Scarwid is enjoyable as chilly First Lady Bess. There are some wonderfully personal moments, like when he thanks his kitchen staff for a birthday cake and informs them it's V-E Day, but this is mostly by-the-numbers. I'd say it's on par with most presidential biopics.
