An acid trip for the ages, Zardoz is mind-bending and entertaining, but almost instantly forgettable. Because there's so much wacky imagery here, it's hard for much of it to stand out (though a floating head and Connery's red briefs are clear exceptions). I imagine the film, with its heavy plot and continuous twists, makes more sense and is probably more rewarding on a second viewing. The first go around it's hard not to get caught up in the absurdity of refrains like, "The gun is good! The penis is evil!"
