The novelty of Thinner's premise is distinctly cinematic, but Tom Holland's tendency to make films that are more playful than scary is a liability here. This concept would only really be frightening if the film were darker and moodier. Instead, it's an enjoyable, but minor revenge flick. Robert John Burke's performance only becomes convincing once he's at his actual weight as he looks ridiculous in a fat suit.
