The "Television Terror" episode of Tales from the Crypt seems like an obvious influence, but this is still a landmark haunted house mockumentary. Such an incredible slow burn, Ghostwatch is most worthwhile for its final act. In its first hour, we're distracted with details determined to convince us what's happening is authentic. With a ghost placed only in a handful of frames, it's bizarre something this subtle was made for a one-time airing on the BBC.
