Sally Field is always at her most comfortable when playing down on her luck, working class women. Often an effortful actress, it's a delight seeing her this leisurely. She has a strong dynamic opposite Judy Davis, who's playing cold and snappy for all its worth. This is nothing less than a middling telefilm with predictable arcs, but Field and Davis are giving it their all and it's their sincerity that makes this quite rewarding.
