Movie Watched This Past Week:
Becket - such a fine film. One of the best I had seen in a long time.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - If it weren't for Becket, I would be saying the exact same thing about this. Expect a post on this one soon as well. Such a fine piece of writing, and yet... one aspect of the film really struck me that perhaps was not the desired intent.
For your Consideration:
I don't live to link. I link to live. Whatever that means.
As I've said before, we here at LiE love to champion those who have shown a commitment to excellence over a long period of time. Therefore, we wish a hardy and full congratulations and happy blogday to Jess and Insight Into Entertainment!
Asian cinema may be home to many a strange happenings, but the folks over at Japan Cinema have narrowed it down to their Top 10 Most Ridiculous Asian Film Myths. My vote: Everything from Hausu = 1 - 10.
Cinematic Paradox goes old school as they deliver their Top 10 Favorite Classic Actors/Actresses. You had me at Ingrid. Works every time.
Blog Cabins goes philosophical and introspective this week as Fletch tackles one of those most challenging questions for any reviewer who takes their ratings seriously: When should one hand out a perfect score? For my money - never! Make them beg! Muhahahahahahaha
Big Thoughts From a Small Mind asks the million dollar question. Cate Blanchett or Kate Winslet, who is better? Judging by the photos, I'm wondering if he means 'in bed?'
Poll Update:
You came, you saw, a couple of you voted and the rest just went on with their happy meal.
Results:
1. 5 votes: Never seen a Scream movie before (I am ashamed... tsk tsk tsk)
2. (3-way tie) 4 votes: A solid return (wouldn't take much - *spoiler* you never kill the Schreiber! *spoiler*), They should have stopped after the second one (the third suffered the ever horrible going back to the beginning to change thing syndrome which never works and creates nothing but plot holes), and Eh (yeah... fair enough)
5. 1 vote: Well enough not to be hated (I think this is going to be sucked quicker than the strongest vacuum into the world of love it/hate it)
6 0 votes: Awesome in any manner (good on you!)
New Poll: Judging by the rather turbulent commenting on my anti-media oozing for Charlie Sheen stuff, there's a decent amount of us who actually care about celebrities. I want to know: who are you and how much?
Soundtrack of the Week:
Simply put - uplifting movie, uplifting score. I get worked up every time I hear it. Love Rudy.
Well, there you have it folks. Another Monday Corner in the bag. Hope your Monday goes just fine!
