Thanksgiving for All
Thursday, November 25, 2010
Yes ladies and gentlemen the day has come. That most hallowed of days - Black Friday Christmas Sales-eve day! OK I'm kidding. I know the historical context around Thanksgiving is skiddish at best, but let's not worry about that now. Today is an opportunity for me to express my love and thanks for all the kindness you seen fit to bestow upon me. Whether it be through commenting, emailing, or the occasional message on facebook or twitter. Each and every one of them makes maintaining this blog worth it. And to that I thank you.
I'm offering up the reasons why I love each and every one of yah!
One of my favorite things about blogging is reading your posts and discovering new ways of looking at things I never would of thought of. Whether it be Darren of the m0vie blog breaking things down in one of his wonderful columns, or Mike of You Talking to Me? sheding light on an interpretation it wouldn't have even crossed me to think of. To Film Intel for blending the English viewpoint flawlessly with the human side of a film. Dezmond of Hollywood Spy finding the positive in even the most negative of films. Where Danger Lives, Life of a Cinephile and Bibliophile, Motion Picture Gems all keeping my classic viewing in check.
Common Sense Movie Reviews fighting me on the quality of a film, teaching me knew ways to understand my own reasons for loving them. Film Misery for always being there with solid analysis and a daily trivia contest to keep my challenged. Japan Cinema and I Love Italian Movies with their consistent dedication to Foreign cinema, and TV, offerings, allows brings a smile to my face, and a new film title to my ears. Anomalous Material and Movie Mobsters for their great blending of humor, intelligence, and community respect that never leaves one wanting. Alex J Cavanaugh for the simultaneous awesome writing blog and film book. BPDReview, Random Ramblings of a Demented Doorknob, The Movie Encyclopedia, Marshall and the Movies, for their knowledge of cinema history, both obscure and classics always bringing their best to the table. To the Great White Dope for the absolute upper echelon of obscurity in cinema.
Kid in the Front Row for his hilarious rants and sharp articles, looking at things from the point of view of an indie film maker. Four of Them, The List, and Sugary Cynicism for more spurted milk inducing laughs then I care to count.
Film Forager, Rachel's Reel Reviews, Insight to Entertainment, Final Cut, Movie Moxie, RamblingFilm (among others - I'll go insane if I keep listing them) all giving me a much needed female's perspective on films with their quick wit, intelligence, beauty, and insane creativity.
To Dark of the Matinee for always being there when I need someone to talk to, someone to debate with, and someone to help experience film with.
Lastly and most certainly not least, Dylan, Blog Cabins, and The Large Association of Movie Bloggers without which I wouldn't have met any of these wonderful people.
To all the ones I've forgot (or simply ran out of the will to continue on) I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Anything I say here is the most marginal of reasons why I appreciate everything you do in your writing, commenting, twitter, facebook. You make blogging worth it every day.
Now excuse me while I go pass out and eagerly await my soon to come Turkey coma.

Here's a nifty old newsreel of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, probably from 1964.
