032. (25 Jan) Bad Boys (1983, Rick Rosenthal) 60
A powerful film about the dehumanizing nature of prison, this distinguishes itself with its setting in a juvenile facility. Prison hardening someone and making them far more dangerous than they'd be on the street is hardly a new narrative, but Sean Penn lends Bad Boys credibility. A complicated revenge plot keep and colorful, if clichéd characters also keep this intriguing. Also, I don't know that I've ever seen so much terrible bruising makeup in a single film before.
