Since it's essentially a two-character drama, this would have fared so much better strictly as survival horror. Ashton Holmes and Emily Blunt have an excellent dynamic opposite one another, but they can't overcome the clumsy, albeit minimal supernatural elements. The tenderness in Blunt warming Holmes's frostbitten hands easily outdoes anything involving time travel or ghosts. That's a testament to both how well-crafted these characters are and how competent the acting is. However, there are times where Emily Blunt's labored American accent made me think she might pull a muscle.
