There's more than enough intrigue in the idea that Christ and his disciples faked his death on the cross. However, I've seen so many versions of Christ's life that I can decisively call this one of the most tedious, even if its concept sets it apart. Watching riled-up, bearded men in robes bellow and recite passages from the gospel has rarely translated worse on-screen. The Oscar nomination for Costume Design is a joke; these could be from a bad summer stock production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Alex North's score is much too good for this.
