The humor here is so dry and witty, it's an even mix where you wonder what was cleverly scripted and what was just a very funny bunch of actors improvising. Jenn Harris is outstanding here, giving what easily ranks among the best comic turns of the year. Her performance is selfless, particularly when she's making an ass of herself during the physical comedy. The romantic subplots, with the exception of a razor-sharp take on online dating, don't especially work. Nevertheless, this is ultimately sweet, rewarding, predictable comedy that puts mumblecore to shame.
