Numbingly slow to get underway, once the action finally starts Chernobyl Diaries still does absurdly little to make use of its spooky surroundings. There are already too few opportunities for scares in the script, but Bradley Parker has no notion of how to create atmosphere. This gets more amateurish at practically every turn. At best, it's eerie in one scene that vaguely recalls the kitchen sequence in Jurassic Park.
