Honestly, I should have known better as soon as the first scare was so blatantly and shamelessly stupid. While a few jump scares do definitely work here and there's atmosphere to spare, this is a lame rehash of last year's Grave Encounters. That film was infinitely spookier and more believable. These actors are earnest, but their peril just doesn't seem real enough for this to truly pass for "found footage."
