192. (07 Sep) Bug (1975, Jeannot Szwarc) 30
Bug exemplifies how most insect creature features are all novel concept with no follow-through. Here it's fire-starting beetles that emerge following an earthquake. Despite their ability, they're thoroughly unmenacing, looking downright silly whenever they latch onto people. A few amusing moments lighten the mood, like when a woman's hair is set ablaze by a critter. It's also fairly awesome late in the film when the bugs join together to spell out words. Otherwise, this is beyond dull.
