Frankly not as bad as I anticipated, Blue Crush 2's biggest mistake is outstaying its welcome. Had the film run a brisk 75 minutes, it'd be a three star feature. Instead, this is overloaded with too much angst and wacky side stories that aren't in keeping with the film's frothy tone. At one point, there's an unexpected and unsubtle conversation about class difference and a key subplot has one of the characters making money by illegally trading ivory. These are filler scenes in a film that simply doesn't need filler. Sasha Jackson is an obvious standout with a naturalism that's quite refreshing. The photography is excellent.
